Who we are
HU Media was founded in 2007 by Tom Duffy who started out producing the thought-provoking films that humanutopia use to enhance their now legendary school culture-change workshops. The company was set up to give young people a voice and vital life skills by providing them with the chance to make their own films with us.
In September 2009 Tom appointed Creative Director Rachel Oakes, a critically acclaimed documentary filmmaker who wanted to use her twelve years of television industry experience to make a difference to young people's lives. As a result HU Media is now helping young people in schools and the community to make their own short documentaries.
We believe that young people deserve a voice. We believe that with faith, a creative outlet and expert guidance even the hardest to reach young people we work with will flourish. We believe working on a film broadens horizons, teaches valuable life skills, builds confidence and makes young people realise that their opinions matter and that they do have the power to shape their environment.
Please feel free to browse the rest of our website. We very much look forward to working with you and your young people.
